a bit about me:

Dr. Ricardo Arredondo's distinguished career combines excellence in diplomacy, legal scholarship, and education. He has made significant contributions to international law and diplomacy while holding key positions in academia, government, and international organizations. His dedication and expertise continue to enrich the field of diplomacy and international relations.

Ricardo Arredondo serves as the Consul General of the Argentine Republic in Vancouver, Canada, since his arrival in 2021, where he established the new Consulate.

Educator and Legal Scholar: Dr. Ricardo Arredondo is a respected educator, holding positions as a Professor of International Studies at SFU and other universities.

Diplomatic Career: In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Arredondo is a distinguished member of the Argentine Foreign Service, with service experience in the United Kingdom, Spain, and the United States. His roles in the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs include serving as the Head of the Settlement of Economic Disputes Office and working in the Legal Affairs Department, among others.

Author and Prolific Scholar: Dr. Arredondo is a prolific author, contributing to the field of international law with five books and over 100 articles published in renowned journals, newspapers, and blogs. His work covers a wide range of topics, including diplomatic and consular law, WTO issues, the legal aspects of the use of force, responsibility to protect, and international relations.

Awards and Recognition: Dr. Arredondo's contributions to the field have earned him awards from various professional associations, including the prestigious Elena Holmberg and Raúl Prebisch Medals awarded by the Foreign Service Institute of Argentina.

Educational Background:

Dr. Arredondo's academic journey is remarkable. He earned his LL.B. from the University of Tucuman Law School in 1986, graduating in the top 1% of his class. Subsequently, he pursued his LL.M. with Merits from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 1996. Later, he achieved his Ph.D. summa cum laude (the highest distinction) from the University of Buenos Aires in 2011.

Additional Roles and Affiliations:

Counselor and Active Participant: Dr. Arredondo actively contributes to the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI) and is a member of various other organizations, including the Argentine Association of International Law and the Observatory of International Politics at the University of Palermo.
